: What’s a nice thing i could say to a coworker who tries to “gossip” with me?
i know i’m not the only one that has to deal with this. People always seem to like to gossip in the workplace … or provide drama or bring in their personal lives into the workplace (not just mine, but just in general as well). What are polite things i could say to a coworker that might start gossiping with me to stop them from gossiping with me? i’d like to say things that won’t temporarily keep it at bay, but i’ll take whatever advice i can! Thanks!

I would just let her finish what she has to say, and then change the subject. She’ll stop once she realizes that you’re not reciprocating. I have this problem constantly at work, but I’m pretty close with my colleagues. I’ve come out and told them that I’m trying to cut the gossip out of my life, and I realize that that will leave me out of the loop a little. They understand, laugh a little, and say the same thing. “I know! I need to stop!”.
