The TV series Gossip Girl originated from the novels written by Cecily von Ziegesar.

As outsiders looking in, Dan (Penn Badgley) and Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) don’t run in the same social or financial circles as their peers – but are drawn into their lives nonetheless. If that sounds similar to The OC, you won’t be surprised to learn that OC creator Josh Schwartz is also behind Gossip Girl.
Gossip Girl’s third season premiere aired on the CW on September 14, 2009. The cast began filming on June 29, 2009 in New York City for a 22 episode season. Hilary Duff joined the show for a multi-episode guest arc in this season as Olivia Burke, a famous movie star who wants a normal college experience, and eventually starts dating Dan Humphrey. This character was inspired by real life actress Emma Watson’s decision to attend university.
Season 3 has seen Dan (Penn Badgley) go from good boy to playboy. His first year at university may have him feeling like a new man. But old tricks die hard as he realizes his true feelings for longtime friend Vanessa (Jessica Szohr). After confessing his love to her, will she in turn reciprocate the feelings or wish to stay just friends?
Current “Queen Bee” Jenny (Taylor Momsen) continues to reign at Constance; however, she picks up a new pastime after Chuck introduces her to Damien Dalgaard, son of the Belgian ambassador. With Damien, Jenny starts to deal drugs to make more money for her designer label shopping needs.
Carter Baizen and Georgina Sparks return before the season ends.
